Everything about running meal kit and prepared meal subscriptions on Shopify with Servd — from first setup to menus, orders, delivery rules and troubleshooting. Looking for the bigger picture first? Start with the guides.

Setup

What does this app help me run?Servd helps you sell meal kit subscriptions on Shopify, collect menu choices for upcoming delivery weeks, and let customers manage their subscription from a portal. How do I sell the same menu in different sizes or tiers?Make the tier (size, level) an option on your meal plan product instead of adding size variants to every dish. The menu stays identical for everyone; the plan a customer picks tells you which size to prepare, and each plan-and-count combination carries its own price. How should I set up my meal plan product? The app uses one Shopify product as the subscription product. Its variants represent the customer's plan choices, such as servings and meals per week.

Menus

How do I set up rotating menus?Rotating menus let you build reusable templates and assign them to a repeating schedule, so customers automatically see the right menu for each upcoming delivery period. How do I offer one menu that never changes (evergreen)?Evergreen mode shows every customer the same menu with no week selector — a fit for frozen meals, snack boxes, or any catalog where the selection is a product configuration rather than a weekly choice. How do menu weeks work?Menus are grouped by delivery or cutoff week. Customers choose meals from the menu weeks you publish for upcoming dates.Auto-assign on renewal (menu slots)When a customer doesn't choose meals before the cutoff, the app can automatically fill their order using the menu slots (Menu #) they picked last time. The same slot numbers in the new menu are assigned, so renewals stay close to each customer's usual taste. This replaces the old Chef's Choice feature.

Subscriptions

What can customers do in the customer portal?Customers can sign in with email, view subscription status, review upcoming deliveries at a glance, edit menu selections, skip or unskip eligible orders, update their shipping address, request payment method updates, and change delivery day when configured. How do I manage a customer's subscription?Use Subscriptions to open a contract, review customer details, see recent orders, edit the next order, skip or resume the next billing cycle, cancel the plan, or open the customer portal. How do I see which menus are included in an order?Open the customer's subscription contract to see scheduled delivery dates and the meals selected for each upcoming subscription order.

Storefront widget

How does the storefront menu widget work? The widget appears on the Shopify product page through the Meal Kit Widget app embed. It lets customers pick meals for upcoming weeks and check out with the selected subscription plan.

Settings

How do delivery days and cutoffs work?Delivery day settings define which days customers can choose, and the order cutoff defines how long before each menu week locks for changes. How does delivery zone checking work?Delivery zone check asks customers for a postal code on the product page before they add a meal plan, then validates the input against eligible codes for store locations. Can I match the widget to my store brand?Yes. The Branding setting controls the primary color (buttons, active states) and the page background color of the customer-facing pages — the menu page, guided start and customer portal.

Analytics

How do I print meal labels for a delivery week? The Meal Demand page shows how many portions of each meal you need for a date range, and can print one sticker label per portion. What does the dashboard show? The dashboard shows subscription revenue, subscription counts, and upcoming order trends for the selected date range.

Billing

How do app pricing plans work?Pricing plans are based on subscription revenue and feature access. If monthly subscription revenue exceeds the current plan limit, the app recommends the next suitable plan.

Troubleshooting

Why is the widget not showing on my product page? Most widget issues come from an incomplete setup: missing meal plan product, no upcoming menus, or the app embed not enabled in the active Shopify theme. Why cannot a customer change, skip, or save an upcoming order? The app can only update eligible upcoming billing cycles. Paid orders, missing billing cycles, or cycles too close to billing may not be editable.
