How do I show calories and macros on menu cards?

Turn on Nutrition on menu cards to show calories, protein and fat as badges on the storefront menu cards. Each value is read from a product metafield you choose, so you map calories/protein/fat to your metafields once.

Steps

1. In Shopify, store each meal's numbers in product metafields (Settings → Custom data → Metafields → Products), e.g. a number field for calories, one for protein, one for fat. Fill them in on each product.
2. In the app, open Menus, then the Settings tab.
3. Turn on Show nutrition on menu cards. The app pre-fills the metafield for each value when it can recognise it — check the three pickers and adjust if needed.
4. Click Save.
5. Add the products to a Weekly Menu (or Template) — their calories/protein/fat are pulled in at that point and shown as badges on the storefront card.

Frequently asked questions

The pickers are empty — why?

The pickers list your shop's product metafield definitions. If there are none, create them first in Shopify (Settings → Custom data → Metafields → Products), then reload the Settings page.

Do I have to map all three? Can I turn it back off?

No. Leave any value set to “None” and that badge simply won't appear. Turning the whole setting off (or setting a value back to None) immediately hides that badge from the storefront menu — you don't have to undo anything on individual menus.

Is nutrition per product or per variant?

Per product. All variants of a meal share the same calories/protein/fat badges. Per-variant nutrition is not supported.

My numbers don't update after I edit the metafield in Shopify

Nutrition is read when a product is added to a menu. If you change a metafield value in Shopify, click “Apply to products already in menus” in Menus → Settings to refresh every menu at once (or re-add the individual product). Tags refresh automatically; nutrition does not yet.
