What does this app help me run?
Servd helps you sell meal kit subscriptions on Shopify, collect menu choices for upcoming delivery weeks, and let customers manage their subscription from a portal.
Steps
- Open Getting Started. If you do not have a meal plan product yet, choose 'No — create one for me' and answer a few questions (plan sizes, prices, household size, subscription or one-time). The app creates the Shopify product for you with the right options and prices.
- If you already have a suitable product, choose 'Yes — I'll pick my existing product' and connect it in Meal plans, then set Max meals selectable per variant.
- Add this week's menu in Menus. Picking a few products (about 3) is enough to see a working preview — rotations and templates can come later.
- Choose where customers order: on your product pages (enable the Meal Kit Widget app embed in your theme), from a guided start link at /apps/menus (no theme changes — add the link to your store navigation), or both.
- Use the preview buttons on Getting Started to see what customers see, then use Subscriptions to review customers, upcoming orders, skips, and portal links.
Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum setup before customers can subscribe?
You need one connected meal plan product, at least one upcoming menu week, and one working entry point: either the Meal Kit Widget app embed enabled in your current Shopify theme, or the guided start link enabled.
Where should I start after installing the app?
Open Getting Started. It walks you through creating (or connecting) your meal plan, adding a first menu, and switching on the entry point customers will use, checking each step off as it becomes ready.
I don't have a meal plan product yet — do I need to build one in Shopify first?
No. On Getting Started choose 'No — create one for me'. The app creates the product with the right variant options and prices from your answers, published right away so you can preview and test checkout. You can rename, re-price, or unpublish it in Shopify at any time.
What is the guided start entry and when should I use it?
Guided start lets customers begin ordering from a menu page at yourstore.com/apps/menus instead of a product page — no theme changes needed. Enable it in Getting Started (or on the Guided start page), then add the link to your store navigation so customers can find it. If you sell mainly through product pages, use the app embed entry instead; you can also enable both.
Do I have to enable the app embed?
Only if customers order from your product pages. If you chose the guided start link as your entry point, the app embed is not required.
