Move my subscriptions over from another app
Existing subscriptions from another subscription app can be moved into this one without asking customers to re-enter their card. The Migrate subscriptions page finds them in your orders and collects what only you can decide; we then run the migration with you. This is an Enterprise feature, and it is in beta — every migration is run with us, and nothing is charged until you have seen the dry run.
Steps
- Open Migrate subscriptions and click Scan orders. This only reads — nothing changes. On a lower plan the scan shows an upgrade prompt instead; it runs as soon as you approve the Enterprise charge.
- Check the list. It finds every subscriber the other app is still billing, including any you had forgotten; anyone who cannot be moved is shown with the reason.
- For each subscriber, enter the date of their next charge in the OLD app. Look it up on the customer in Shopify admin, or in the old app — nothing we can read tells us that date.
- Match their plan size and dish names to yours. Their names may be from an older menu, so nothing is matched automatically.
- Download the migration file and send it to us. We run it with you, and it is reviewed once more before anyone is charged.
- After each subscriber is moved and checked, cancel their OLD subscription — before their next charge date.
Frequently asked questions
Will customers have to enter their card again?
No. Shopify stores the card, not the subscription app, so the moved subscription charges the same card they already have on file. If a customer has no usable card, the page says so and skips them rather than creating a subscription that can never bill.
Could a customer be charged twice?
Only if both subscriptions stay active past a charge date. That is why the old subscription must be cancelled before the customer's next charge, and why the migration refuses anyone who already has a subscription in this app.
What happens to the price they pay?
By default they keep the price they pay today, taken from their most recent order. Moving them to your current price is a price rise for an existing customer, so it is a deliberate choice rather than the default — tell us if you want it.
Do their past orders come across?
No, and they do not need to: those orders stay in the customer's Shopify order history. In this app a migrated subscription starts from the migration, and its page says so.
What about the meals they had chosen?
If the old app recorded meal choices, they carry over to the first delivery — after you match their dish names to yours. From then on the customer picks their own meals each week, which most likely was not possible before.
When can I uninstall the old app?
Only after every subscription has been moved and checked. Uninstalling earlier leaves any remaining subscriber unbilled and undelivered.
