Show customers when their box arrives

September 17, 2026

A week labelled Sep 27 – Oct 3 tells a customer which menu they are choosing from, but leaves them asking when the food will arrive. Shops with one fixed delivery day can now put that date first, so customers know which box they are ordering or changing.

What it is

The Week schedule card now includes Boxes arrive. Choose the weekday your boxes reach customers and whether it falls in the menu week itself or the week before. The preview shows the date customers will read before you save.

On dated menus, the week heading becomes Arrives Sunday, Sep 27, with the menu week's dates underneath. The same arrival date appears on the week cards in the customer portal and the delivery cards in the customer's Shopify account.

The default pre-charge reminder and payment-failed emails also name the delivery that the charge belongs to. The reminder's subject now describes an upcoming charge, so it no longer sounds like a shipment notification.

Why it matters

Your order deadline, your menu week and your delivery day can fall on three different dates. Showing the arrival date where customers choose their meals saves them from working backwards from a date range or checking another page on your store.

This also covers shops that deliver ahead of the week the food is eaten. A Monday delivery can belong to a menu week that starts on Tuesday; choosing the week before makes that relationship explicit.

How to set it up

Open the Menus tab that defines your weeks — Rotation, Evergreen or Weekly Menus — and find Week schedule. Set Boxes arrive, read the customer preview and save. Naming an arrival date does not move your order cutoff.

This setting is for shops with one fixed delivery day. Shops offering several delivery days keep showing the menu week's dates, because one arrival date would not describe every customer's box. Leave Boxes arrive on Not set if you do not want to display a date.

If you have customised your emails, your copy stays as you wrote it. Add the new {{delivery_when}} merge tag in the email editor to name the box's arrival date. The existing {{delivery_date}} tag still means the start of the menu week.
