Per-dish option selection

A meal can now carry its own required choices in the menu picker. Customers can choose a protein, grain or other Shopify product option for each dish, and Servd keeps that exact combination attached to the meal from selection through fulfillment.

What it is

When per-dish options are enabled, a menu card with real Shopify product options shows a selector for each option. The combination the customer chooses resolves to one Shopify variant, so Brown Rice with Chicken and Quinoa with Tofu remain distinct selections of the same dish.

Options change which variant is delivered, not the size of the box: every configured dish still counts as one meal toward the plan, and its choices do not add to the plan price.

Why it matters

For bowls, macro meals and other configurable dishes, the meal and its choices need to stay paired. Customers no longer have to pick proteins or sides in a separate list, and merchants do not have to duplicate the same dish into a product for every combination.

The selected options follow the order into checkout, remain visible in the subscription editor, and are preserved when renewal meals are auto-assigned.

How to set it up

Build each configurable dish as a Shopify product with the option names and variants you offer. In Menus → Settings, enable per-dish options and add those products to the menu. Single-variant dishes continue to use the standard menu card automatically.
