Full meal details without leaving the menu
September 14, 2026
A short description keeps a menu easy to scan, but customers sometimes need the whole story before choosing a meal. They can now click a meal's photo or name to open its details in place, read what is in it and add it to the box they are already building.
What it is
The popup shows the meal's full Shopify product description alongside the nutrition, tags and allergen information available for that meal. Headings, lists, tables and images in the description carry over, so an ingredients list or nutrition table stays readable.
Customers can choose options and use the same Add and quantity controls they would use on the menu card. Closing the popup takes them back to their selection. On phones, the details fill the screen with room to scroll.
The setting is separate from Show meal descriptions. You can keep your menu cards compact, with no description underneath, while still letting customers open the full details when they need them.
Why it matters
Ingredients and preparation details often live in the product description. Sending a customer to a separate product page to read them interrupts a half-built box; keeping those details on the menu lets them make the choice where they can act on it.
The content comes from the Shopify description you already maintain. There is no second description to write in Servd and no extra metafield to map.
How to turn it on
Read through your meal descriptions in Shopify first. The popup shows the full description, including any shipping notes or other copy you have included there.
Open Menus → Settings → Menu layout, turn on Let customers open full meal details and save. Allow up to a minute for the storefront to refresh, then click a meal's photo or name on your menu.
The feature is off until you enable it. Meals without a description stay unclickable, so customers never open an empty panel.
